1/26/18
Keisha Pearson returned successfully to competition at the Findlay Classic in Findlay, OH. Racing in the 3000m against Olympic Trials competitor Melissa Moeller, Keisha was able to finish 5th in 18:32.94.

Several members of the Raleigh Walkers saw action at the SE Masters Indoor Champs at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, NC. 10 medals (8 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze) were won by the team. Here are the results. (## = Team Record)

Cher Armstrong finished 3rd in the Long Island Open 3000m in 18:00.08, her first race back from shoulder surgery.

1/7/18
Robert Campbell was 6th in the 3000m at the JDL New Year Kickoff in 21:00.15, his first race since moving to NC.
Patricia “Wonder Woman” Clemmons was 4th in 20:40.73 at the JDL New Year Kickoff.

11/8/17
Wendy Dietz was a DNF in the Mile at the November Tuneup due to a lap counting issue.

USA Masters Games Results – 7/29-31/16
The trio of Bobby Baxter, Kelley Grayson & Patricia Clemmons performed spectaularly at 5000m & 10000m in extremely hot conditions in Greensboro, NC. Bobby won 2 Silvers in 32:57.41 & 1:11:56.61. Kelley won 2 Golds in 39:39.25 & 1:22:49.71. Patricia won 2 Golds in 39:00.24 & 1:19:38.03 to go along with a Silver in the Shot Put & a Bronze in the Discus. All times were PRs and all 10000m times are Club Records.

New PR & Team Record – 11/8/15
Cher Armstrong completed 10km in 62:13 for a new PR and Team Record at the Eastern Regional Championship in East Islip, NY. She was 9th overall and the 6th Open Woman finisher.

Many Medals at USA 5km Champs – 10/3/2015
Michael Roth, normally in a coaching status, led the team in Kingsport, TN, winning the 45-49 division for his 1st individual National Championship in 30:32 for 11th overall. Bobby Baxter, in his 5km debut, got 3rd in the 50-54 division, 16th overall, in 33:28 with a strong kick. Leading the ladies, Grace Mutz dropped down from the marathon to take 2nd in the 55-59 division, 7th overall, with a 35:33. Katherine Fincher folllowed her for 3rd in 39:03 and 13th overall.

Armstrong 5th at National Club Championships
Cher Armstrong returned to full strength after an early season car accident to take 5th place in the USATF Club National Championships at Icahn Stadium on Randalls Island in NY City.  Her time of 29:19.08 is her 2nd best performance all time.  The race was won by 2013 Olympian Maria Michta, who set a meet and track record.  The time was over 4 minutes faster than her last time competing in this meet in 2011. Raleigh Walkers finished 21st in the team scoring.

3 Qualify for National Championships
All 3 members of the Raleigh Walkers competing at the USATF North Carolina Junior Olympic Championships qualified for the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships.  John Osika Jr. – Youngsville, NC (16:42.05), Eric Osika – Youngsville, NC (18:42.45), and Cameron Good – Wake Forest, NC (22:11:16) won their respective 3000m Race Walk events in personal record times.  All 3 broke meet records as well.  John’s performance is a NC HS record.  The Nationals will be held July 22-23 on the of NC A&T in Greensboro, NC.

Masterful Performances
The Southeastern Open & Masters Championships in Raleigh saw top notch performances from the team.  John Osika Jr. debuted at 1500m and won overall in a team record 9:17.49.  Walter Ogelsby (9:31.80) and Karen Terry (10:32.02) both won their age groups.  Deb Springer won the 5000m overall in 29:35.26, a new PR, team record and first time under 30:00.  Karen Terry (36:28.95) and Walter Ogelsby (38:02.84) both won their age groups.

Armstrong 10th @ USA 10km Championships
Cher Armstrong set a new PR with her 10th place finish of 1:03:30.11.  The women’s field included 2 past Olympians.

Springer & Terry Set More Records
Deb Springer & Karen Terry set 1500m Team Records in the Southeast Region Masters Indoor Championships.  They finished in 8:47.80 and 10:13.18 respectively.

Good Debut
Cameron Good placed 1st in the 3000m Race Walk event.  In winning this race, her debut in the event, Cameron is both the North Carolina Champion and South Zone Champion.  The meet had over 600 athletes, many from as far away as Texas.  Her time of 22:31.75 is a North Carolina HS record and a Team record.

Springer & Terry Open Season Strongly
Deb Springer was 3rd in 9:44.07 & Karen Terry was 5th in 10:54.24 (her racing debut) for the Mile at the Fast Track Masters Challenge in Winston-Salem, NC.  Both performances are Team Records in their respective age groups.

Armstrong 3rd in Mile
Cher Armstrong was 3rd in the Open Mile at the Developmental Meet in Brentwood, NY with a time of 9:02.84.

Hackney & Ogelsby are Bronzed
At the USA Masters T&F Champs, Tony Hackney & Walter Ogelsby both raced to 3rd place finishes.  Hackney (29:14.58) set a new Team Record and Ogelsby (34:08.39) set a SB time by 48 seconds.

Armstrong 8th at Club Championships
Cher Armstrong competed against a tough field in the 5000m, including World Championships qualifier Maria Michta, to finish 8th in 33:25.18.  Her performance enabled the Raleigh Walkers to tie for 28th in the Women’s Team Scoring.

Great performances @ SE Masters
Cher Armstrong, Vicki Grechus & Walter Ogelsby all earned medals w/ Cher & Vicki setting new team records too.  The Team finished 8th for the women & 19th for the men.

Team Record Set
Don McMahill set a new standard for excellence with a performance on the track at 5000m, walking to a new age group record in May 2011.

Penn Relays
Hannah Kisley finished 10th in the Junior Women’s race in 30:29.87.

Raleigh Relays
Tony Hackney won the Men’s 5000m in 27:37.83 and is the NC & South Region Champion.  Hannah Kisley was the 5th Woman in 30:27.81, winning the NC & South Region Champs.  Cher Armstrong, 6th Woman in 31:48.34, took 2nd in NC & South Region Champs.

USA 5 km Championships
Men’s Team gets 3rd place, Hannah Kisley is 2nd Junior, Michael Roth 3rd in 35-39, Tony Hackney 4th in 50-54, Walter Ogelsby 7th in 60-64, Don McMahill 2nd in 70-74.

National Senior Games
Walter Ogelsby got the 5th spot twice in the 60-64 age group while in the 1500m (8:44.77) and 5km (33:06).

USATF Junior Olympics
Hannah Kisley finished 2nd in the Intermediate Girls 3000m Race Walk in a time of 17:23.88.

USATF Club Championships
Tony Hackney’s time of 28:09.86 (4th place) in the 5000m Race Walk led the Raleigh Walkers to a 25th place finish in the team scoring.

USA Junior Outdoor Championships
Hannah Kisley finished 6th in the 10000m Race Walk in a time of 1:00:45 (PR), earning All-American status and will be a member of the Junior National Team for 2009.

VA USATF Championships
Tony Hackney 1st overall in the 3000m Race Walk in a time of 16:07.38.

National Scholastic Championships
Hannah Kisley finished 5th in the Mile Race Walk to earn All-American status.

NC State Games
Tony Hackney 1st overall in the men’s 3000m Race Walk, finishing in 16:18.61.  Hannah Kisley 1st overall in the women’s 3000m Race Walk with a time of 18:07.55.

Penn Relays
Hannah Kisley finished 5th in the Junior division of the 5000m Race Walk at the Penn Relays in a time of 28:23.30.  This qualifies her for the 2009 USA Junior National Championships, to be held June 25-28 in Eugene, Oregon at historic Hayward Field.
