Tight hamstrings resulted in a disappointing performance for Dean Freitag in the USATF 1 Mile Championships at The Millrose Games on February 11th.
After taking the lead at the gun and holding it for the first 2 laps (400m), Dean settled into a good slot in 3rd place through the halfway point. It was here that the long drive from Ohio settled into his legs and maintaining the hot pace was clearly not going to work out well.
Rather than risk a serious injury, or a disqualification for improper technique, Dean slowed to a more manageable pace, which meant getting passed by the field and finishing in 10th place, with a time of 7:22.94.
