Day 2 at the USATF Masters Championships saw our team racing the 3000m event, looking for more medals and records. It did not disappoint. The women added 14 points to their total, finishing with 34. The men added 16 points to finish with 32. Combined, that ended our meet with 66 points.
The women raced together in a combined heat of 18 entrants. Ivonne held 4th the whole way. Cher and Rebecca alternating 8th and 9th until Cher’s hip issues causing her to stop at 2000m, leaving Rebecca in the 8th finisher’s position. Ivonne’s finishing time and split at 1 mile (9:34.4) are both new Team Records, besting her 18:31.06 from earlier this season and the 10:40.12 of Patricia Clemmons from 2018.

The men competed in a field of 21 starters. Alexey held 6th place down for the majority of race, finishing in 17:07.48. This is a new Team Record, to go along with with 1500m one he set the day before. Also, Alexey’s Mile split of 9:05.1 is a Team Record too. Matt raced most of the event in 16th place, moving up to 15th at the finish, coming through in 20:44.85, missing 14th by 0.2 seconds. Matt broke his Team Record of 20:51.92 from 2022.
