A bit on intrigue started the day at the Long Island Indoor Championships, as Cher Armstrong’s bib was “stolen” by another athlete and she had to have another one reissued. Sadly, she won’t get credit for the faster sprint times of that athlete.
Once the action began, “The Real Cher Armstrong” finished a solid 2nd in the 3000m Run (13:16.02) before doubling back to win the Mile Race Walk (10:23.78).
Mike Bartholomew stuck to a single event for the day, taking 2nd in the Mile Race Walk. His time of 9:50.66 is the new Team Record for the M40-44 division, bettering the 11:19.80 of Matt Holtry from 2022.
So far this indoor season, we’ve now seen Team Records set in 7 different divisions across 3 distances.
