The inaugural USATF Race Walk Marathon Relay Championships are set for January 21 in Santee, CA. Six members of the Raleigh Walkers will be competing with the relay partner of their choosing. The race is contested over 4 legs, as explained below.
Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay Order
1st Leg: Man 12.195 km
2nd Leg: Woman 10 km
3rd Leg: Man 10 km
4th Leg: Woman 10 km
The exchange will be made by the 2 athletes slapping hands in the exchange zone.
Over $44,000 in prize money is available in the individual and team categories. The event serves as a Team USA selection event for the 2024 World Team Race Walk Championships in Antalya, Turkey and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Athletes may compete with anyone of the opposite gender, and ideally they pick someone as close to their performance level as possible to make the rest periods as equal as possible. In this case, only 1 pair of club members will be racing together.
